Custodian for the assistants in your browser

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot run in a tab. The extension takes what you write and what the assistant answers, only while capture is on. Nothing else.

Set it up in three steps

For Chrome, Edge and Brave on a computer. If your organisation manages your browser, your IT team installs Custodian for you and you can skip to step 3.

  1. Install the browser extension

    Download the extension
    1. Unzip the file into a folder you keep.
    2. Open chrome://extensions or edge://extensions, switch on Developer mode and choose Load unpacked.
    3. Pin Custodian to the toolbar: click the puzzle-piece icon, then the pin next to Custodian.

  2. Sign in

    Click the Custodian icon and sign in with your Custodian account. You need one first: the free trial or your organisation's setup page creates it.

    The password is used once to sign in. The extension never stores it.

  3. Switch capture on

    Switch on Capture my AI chats. That switch confirms your consent, and switching it off withdraws it.

    Chats wait in your browser and go once a day, or when you press Send now. After sending, the browser keeps no readable text.

What leaves your browser

Only the conversation, on four sites, and only while capture is on.

Sent

  • What you write to the assistant and what it answers, while capture is on.
  • The time, the name of the assistant, and the conversation and message identifiers.
  • The site and the path of the page; the rest of the address is cut off.

Never sent

  • Other sites, other tabs and your browsing history: the extension has no permission to read them.
  • Anything while capture is paused, or in a chat you excluded.
  • Your name or email address. Custodian never asks for them.

Before it is sent

  • Review first lists the chats that wait: remove one, or remove it and never capture that chat again.
  • The chats wait only in this browser until they are sent.
  • On arrival, names, emails, phone numbers and similar details are replaced before storage.
